Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
The Greatest Salesman in the World is a tiny book, and it is a treasure. First published in 1968, Og Mandino's classic remains an invaluable guide to a philosophy of salesmanship. Mandino's clear, simple writing style supports his purpose: to make the principles of sales known to a wide audience. A parable set in the time just prior to Christianity, The Greatest Salesman in the World weaves mythology with spirituality into a much needed message of inspiration in this culture of self-promotion. Mandino believes that to be a good salesperson, you must believe in yourself and the work you are doing. It is a simple but profound spiritual philosophy about how to succeed in the world's marketplace, easily understood and easy to take to heart. --Jodie Buller

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!   June 21, 2010

I'm undertaking to read each of the "scrolls" for 30 days at a time and I am only on scroll 2. So it will take me a while, but what I have read is excellent and can apply to anyone, not only salespeople. I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars A Modern Classic   June 12, 2010

Don't make the mistake of overlooking this book by saying, "Oh, that's about sales and I'm not in sales, so it's not for me." This book is for everyone. THE GREATEST SALESMAN IN THE WORLD by Og Mandino is really as much about having a successful life as it is about salesmanship. In fact, you won't find any sales techniques to follow. You will find life lessons to follow.

Many people will say this book has too many similarities to several others such as George Classen's "Richest Man In Babylon" or Terry Fleber's "The Monk and the Merchant" or even the more modern "Traveller's Gift" by Andy Andrews. Well, I suppose you can draw similarities to just about anything but that doesn't mean you should even consider overlooking the valuable life lessons contain in this tiny book.

I've read the book several times over the last couple of decades but have never done exactely as the book instructs and that is to devote a month to each lesson. I'm sure if I did so, the results would be phenominal. But even if you do like I do and just read the short book periodically, you will take away immense personal growth and lessons that will carry you wherever you desire to go.

This is one of life's "must reads".
