For those who never thought Disney would release a film in which Santa Claus is kidnapped and tortured, well, here it is! The full title is Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which should give you an idea of the tone of this stop-action animated musical/fantasy/horror/comedy. It is based on characters created by Burton, the former Disney animator best known as the director of Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and the first two Batman movies. His benignly scary-funny sensibility dominates the story of Halloweentown resident Jack Skellington (voice by Danny Elfman, who also wrote the songs), who stumbles on a bizarre and fascinating alternative universe called ... Christmastown! Directed by Henry Selick (who later made the delightful James and the Giant Peach), this PG-rated picture has a reassuringly light touch. As Roger Ebert noted in his review, "some of the Halloween creatures might be a tad scary for smaller children, but this is the kind of movie older kids will eat up; it has the kind of offbeat, subversive energy that tells them wonderful things are likely to happen." --Jim Emerson

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite movies and definetely my favorite stop-motion. Although recent efforts are quiet outstanding (Corpse Bride, Coraline) none of this has suprassed this masterpiece. The characters, the settings, the music, everything is beautiful and makes this film a pleasant experience. This Collector's edition DVD is a gem. The restoration is fantastic and the film looks gorgeous (for the ones that have BD I recommmed that one). The picture is clean and perfect and the sound is crisp and clear. The bonus features are also really good. The making of documentary, the new audio comentary, deleted scenes, the shorts Vincent and Frankenweenie (both fantastic), the ride at disneyland, the art galleries and the trailers enhances the experience. I totally recommend this film because is a masterpiece and this edition makes TNBC a must own title.

I bought this BD for my sister. She loves the movie and all of the characters. The blu-ray looks even better then the DVD, the colors are more vibrant and the depth of the picture comes across in great detail in your HD TV

I watched this move for the first time two years ago and have loved it since. The quality of this dvd is flawless and the special features are impressive. Definitely add it to your collection if you are a Tim Burton fan.

Even though this is a subtle release of this movie on Blu-Ray the imagery and vivid look of this movie makes it all new once you watch this in HD. If you love Tim Burton, and appreciate the dark comdey and witt, definatley get this movie on Blu-Ray. It also includes the Haunted Mansion ride which we were able to experinece all over again through this disc!! Great stuff.
