My dog has always loved getting things out of plastic bags. If I leave a plastic grocery bag out, he'll bring that to me with a toy--for me to tie his toy up in the bag for him. He will play with this until he gets the toy out, and then he'll bring me the bag and toy to AGAIN put in the bag for him.
Needless to say, my dog took to this toy naturally and he LOVES it! I've also hidden a treat in the bottom of the "trunk" for him to retrieve as a reward. This toy has given me time to do my hair in the morning (usually I get TONS of interruptions to play), and it's right up my dog's alley.
The trunk and the squirrels are well built. I ordered the small (my dog's 12 lbs) and it suits my dog fine. I would highly recommend this, and I will probably buy another kyjen toy that is similar to this (beehive, birdhouse, etc.) because my dog has enjoyed this so much.

I got this toy for our almost-2 year old pit bull who is a voracious chewer. No toys made of material have ever lasted more than a few days with him. He LOVES pulling the squirrels out of their tree and making them squeak (two of the 3 squeakers still work, amazingly) and the toy is still in one piece (even more amazingly). We have to keep stuffing the squirrels back in the tree or he loses interest quickly. He figured out how to get them out in a split second or two. I got it to keep him occupied while the rest of the house is still asleep...it has done that, but as he gets more accustomed to the toy, he's seeming to lose interest in it more quickly. Guess it's time for a new toy!

Our 50 pound German Shepherd mix loves toys where you can pull stuff out from within the toy, so this toy is exactly the toy for her. I initially ordered 2 of these, and have bought 1 more just to have as a back-up. Excellent price here on Amazon too. Buy a few of these, your dog will love it.
